In its continuous effort to help the local industry become more protective of the environment, the Department of Trade and Industry’s Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS) has adopted and approved as Philippine National Standards (PNS) additional standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on Environmental Management.  The standards will serve as guide to organizations and businesses on incorporating environmentally conscious design in their products and in making sound organizational decisions relating to the environment. For businesses, the benefits of having an Environmental Management System (EMS) in place is not limited to the environmental aspect but stretches to enhancing organizational processes, improving financial performance through efficient use of resources and gaining good corporate reputation among the industry peers.  The DTI-BPS ensures that EMS standards are always updated and are easily available to companies and organizations as its way of contributing assistance to local industry players to attain those advantages and at the same time help protect the environment. Moreover, the adoption of these standards contribute to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) No. 13 – Climate Action.
