PRIZES

There will be a total of seven (7) winners as follows:

  • 1st place – ₱10,000 (worth of Sodexo Gift Certificates)
  • 2nd place – ₱7,000 (worth of Sodexo Gift Certificates)
  • 3rd place – ₱5,000 (worth of Sodexo Gift Certificates)
  • Three (3) Consolation prizes - ₱1,000 (worth of Sodexo Gift Certificates) EACH for the 4th to 6th placers
  • TikTok Video with the most number of likes - ₱3,000 (worth of Sodexo Gift Certificates)

The BPS will be accepting entries from 27 September to 10 October 2021. All entries must be received on or before 11:55 PM, Philippine time, on 10 October 2021.

CONTEST MECHANICS

  1. The theme shall be "Standard and Technical Regulation".
  2. All entries must discuss the difference between a standard and a technical regulation in a fun, engaging and creative manner.
  3. The following definitions from the World Trade Organization – Technical Barriers to Trade (WTO-TBT) Agreement are provided for reference of interested participants:
    A Standard is a document approved by a recognized body that provides, for common and repeated use, rules, guidelines or characteristics for products or related processes and production methods, with which compliance is NOT mandatory.
    A Technical Regulation, on the other hand, is a document which lays down product characteristics or their related processes and production methods, including the applicable administrative provisions, with which compliance IS mandatory.
  4. Please note that the DTI-BPS is the National Standards Body authorized to promulgate Philippine National Standards (PNS). PNS are voluntary in nature and may be used as reference by any interested parties. The conformance to PNS or parts thereof become mandatory only when the same is used as reference in Technical Regulations issued by regulatory authorities.

As of August 2021, the DTI-BPS has already promulgated 12,226 PNS. Out of this number, only 74 PNS are used as references in Technical Regulations issued by BPS for its mandatory product certification schemes.

  1. The contest is open to all Filipinos at least 15 years old. Participant may be an individual or a group with up to three (3) members.
  2. Employees of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Consumer Protection Group (CPG) as well as their immediate family members are not qualified to join.

Participants must be residing within the Philippines during the competition period.

  1. All entries must be made using the TikTok Mobile App.
  2. All entries must be original and made by the individual or group entering the competition.
  3. All entries must be limited to the theme provided.
  4. The length of the video must not exceed 180 seconds (three minutes).
  5. Videos must be submitted in digital file format (.mp4, .wmv, .avi, .mov, etc).
  6. All entries shall be submitted solely to the BPS via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. All video entries shall be posted in private (“only me” or only the participant/s may see) on TikTok. All video entries shall not be posted in any other online or social media platforms and shown in public on TikTok until after the announcement of the winners on 13 October 2021, and provided that they receive a clearance from BPS that their videos contain accurate information.
  7. All shortlisted entries will be posted in the BPS Facebook page on 11 October 2021.
  8. By joining the competition, all participants consent to the posting of their video entries on the BPS Facebook Page
  9. Only one (1) entry per participant.

  11. All email submissions shall follow this email subject format:

               NSW TIKTOK ENTRY_Full Name

               (Example: NSW TIKTOK ENTRY_Juan Dela Cruz)

               In case of a group, the full name of the leader shall be written.

  1. All emails shall include the following information of the participant:

     - Full Name/s of the participant            - Email Address

     - TikTok Account Name                           - Mobile Number

     - Address / Location

  1. The TikTok Account Name provided in the email should match the watermark on the TikTok video.
  2. Only one (1) email per entry shall be submitted.
  3. The BPS will be accepting entries from 27 September to 10 October 2021. All entries must be received on or before 11:55 PM, Philippine time, on 10 October 2021.

Criteria for Judging and Process

  • The videos will be judged according to the following criteria:
  • Content, accuracy, and relevance to the theme 50%
  • Creativity and originality 30%
  • Social Media Engagement (no. of FB likes*) 20%
  • TOTAL 100%

     *For the video likes to be counted, the BPS FB Page should also be liked.

Prizes

The winners or their authorized representative may pick up their prizes at the BPS Office in Makati City. Winners may also arrange pick-up and delivery service with their chosen courier.

All prizes must be claimed until 15 December 2021. Failure of the winners to claim their respective prizes within said period shall forfeit the same.
