As the National Standards Body of the Philippines, the Bureau of Product Standards is mandated to promote the use and significance of Philippine National Standards (PNS), standardization, and conformity assessment activities in the country.
The Standards Promotion and Media Relations Division is the promotional arm of the Bureau that promulgates the Bureau's services, plans and programs through the conduct of awareness seminars/workshops, fora, exhibits, and publication of news releases, memo circulars, information materials or collaterals, and advertisements both in print and broadcast media.Ã‚Â
Moreover, it coordinates and establishes network with trade associations, industry organizations and other government agencies to facilitate communication with regards to implementation of standards at the same time to clarify and address issues, concerns and other matters pertaining to standards.
To strengthen its information campaign on standards and standardization activities, the Standards Promotion and Media Relations Division has established the Standards Blitz Programme, which is composed of four (4) components, namely the Standards Advocacy club (STAC), the Standards in the Curricula of the Elementary, Secondary and Alternative Learning System Education (SCUE), the Standards' Essay Writing Contest (SEWC), and the Konsyumer At Iba Pa (KATBP) Radio Program, in close coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine Product Safety and Quality Foundations, Inc. (PPSQFI).
Furthermore, the Standards Promotions and Media Relations, spearheads the annual celebrations of the National Standards Week, World Standards Day, and Consumer Trade Fair. It also participates in the nationwide annual celebration of Consumer Welfare Month, Fire Prevention Month, World Exhibition of Construction Materials, Philippine Construction Exhibition, and Earth Day.
The BPS -Ã‚Â Standards Promotions and Media Relations is led by an Action Team Head and is divided into five sections, namely, the Program for Data Planning, Creation and Improvement, Program for Networking Initiative, Program for Publicity and Information Campaign, Program for Feedback Mechanism and Analysis, Program for Special Assignment.
