The purpose of this document is to provide direction and guide the standardization activities of the DTI-BPS with the end goal of promoting the interest of businesses or industries and ensuring the welfare of consumers. This document was developed with the guidance of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), to which BPS is an active member. This Strategy is in line with the existing laws and regulation that will serve as the framework in developing standardization plans of the different government agencies and Standards Development Organizations (SDOs).

This document was prepared by the DTI-BPS as a guide for business continuity planning for businesses amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. It is guided by the Philippine National Standard (PNS) on Business Continuity Management System - Requirements, advisories of the Department of Health (DOH) and other government agencies, and the World Health Organization (WHO).
