The Department of Trade and Industry’s Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS) adopts the following International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards on building environment design as Philippine National Standards (PNS):
- PNS ISO 16813:2019 Building Environment Design – Indoor environment – General principles
- PNS ISO 16814:2019 Building Environment Design – Indoor air quality – Methods of expressing the quality of indoor air for human occupancy
- PNS ISO 16818:2019 Building Environment Design – Energy efficiency – Terminology
- PNS ISO 23045:2019 Building Environment Design – Guidelines to assess energy efficiency of new buildings
A building environment design is a plan in building design which involves the architectural and environmental system design of a building and its parts or its building service components. The standards mentioned above provide terminologies, general principles and energy efficiency assessment guidelines for indoor building environment and design, which shall impact the building design and property management industry.
These standards also contribute to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and UNSDG 15 Life on Land.
The DTI-BPS is the National Standards Body of the Philippines. It is the country’s member to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
