The Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS) conducted public consultations on the proposed Department Agreement Orders (DAO) on the new Technical Regulations concerning the Mandatory Certification of Steel Pipes and Steel Sheets, held last 09 August 2019 at the 6F Center Conference Room, DTI Main Building, Makati City.
The public consultations were divided into two sessions. For the morning session, the salient features of the draft DAO or the new Technical Regulations concerning the Mandatory Certification of Steel-Black and Hot-Dipped Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) Longitudinally Welded Steel Pipes (For Ordinary Use) was discussed by Engr. Niño Dela Cruz of the DTI-BPS Standards Conformity Division. Engr. Dela Cruz stressed that one of the major changes in this draft DAO is that all manufacturers, whether local or foreign, selling or distributing steel-black and hot-dipped zinc-coated (galvanized) longitudinally welded steel pipes (for ordinary uses), shall secure a Philippine Standard (PS) Mark License for safety, traceability and accountability purposes.
The salient features of the draft DAO or the new Technical Regulations concerning the Mandatory Certification of Hot-Dip Metallic-Coated and Pre-Painted Galvanized Steel Sheets for Roofing was presented in the afternoon session by Engr. Ariel Deinla of the DTI-BPS Standards Conformity Division. Engr. Deinla highlighted that the DTI-BPS will strictly ensure compliance of certified products through regular surveillance activities.
